Government warns football stakeholders against engaging newly formed FKF Management Committee

FKF Transition Committee chairman Moses Oyugi has warned clubs against engaging the Football Kenya Federation Management Committee after the body summoned top-flight clubs for a meeting on 16th July at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani. The 13-member committee came into place on June 12th when clubs and FKF Branch officials met at Kasarani. The body had earlier claimed that they had the blessings of Sports CS Amina Mohamed and that they would take over the running of football activities only for Transition Committee to dismiss the claims. The Transition Committee’s mandate was extended by a further two months.##NAJAVA_MECA_6483314##After the close of the 2021/22 FKF Premier League campaign, the FKF Management Committee that’s led by Murang’a Branch Chairman Robert Macharia who is also the founder of Murang’a Seal FC sent a notice to all top-flight clubs inviting them for a meeting to deliberate on next season. Sponsorship is another issue that’s to be discuses during the July 16th meeting in Kasarani. There however appears to be sharp divisions between the body and the Transition Committee that’s currently in charge of the game. In an interview, Oyugi called on stakeholders to ignore everything to do with the management committee labeling it a committee of people with vested interests and keen on creating confusion.”We were with them and even attended their SGM but they are people with vested interest who are hell-bent on creating confusion. They should be ignored and even the clubs they are purporting to hold a meeting will not agree with them,” he told the Nation. The FKF Transition Committee’s mandate expires on 17th June.A different body, Football Management Executive Committee will take over. They are likey to operate from Kandanda House. It will consist of some members from the TC and some FKF Branch/Clubs officials.#KEFootball pic.twitter.com/wtJ0PTQkBY— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) June 9, 2022 The retired army chief further reiterated that the committee is in talks with FIFA and expressed confidence that something positive would come out of the talks.“The government is already making steps in engaging Fifa and at the opportune time, we will reveal the progress. That is why the FKF management committee should be ignored, “he added.Kenya is currently suspended by FIFA after the government moved to dissolve FKF and formed a committee to run football in the country.
