South African giants Kaizer Chiefs terminate Akumu’s contract

South African giants Kaizer Chiefs have announced the departure of Harambee Stars midfielder Teddy Akumu after reaching an agreement over the termination of the remainder of his contract.Akumu has endured a tough time down south since he moved to the club in January 2020 from Zesco United of Zambia. The Club has put Kenyan defensive midfielder Anthony Akumu Agay on transfer. The Club will listen to offers from other Clubs for his services. Like Kambole, Agay also arrived at Chiefs from Zesco and netted twice in his 47 appearances,” read a statement from the club on 1st June.The club has now announced the player’s exit after striking a deal with the midfield enforcer that now leaves him a free agent.“Club Update After initially putting him on the transfer list, Kaizer Chiefs and Anthony Akumu Agay have mutually agreed to early termination of his contract. The contract was set to expire in June 2023. The Kenyan-born midfielder joined Chiefs in January 2020 from Zesco United in Zambia and netted twice in his 47 appearances in all competitions for Amakhosi. A few months later he left for Zesco where he lasted for four years before taking a short trip to South Africa. He is a full Kenyan international and was part of the team that won the 2013 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Nairobi.
