The Saints have got themselves a Nigerian international midfielder cum left-back Joe Aribo from Scottish giants Rangers. The 25-year-old, who played for Charlton Athletic in his native London before making the switch north of the border in 2019, signed a four-year contract with the Saint Mary’s Stadium.Aribo helped the Glasgow giants capture their first Scottish Premiership title in 10 years, also lifting the Scottish Cup, and was a runner-up in last season’s UEFA Europa League, in which he scored in the final as Rangers ultimately lost to Eintracht Frankfurt. Aribo posted a farewell message to the Glasgow club’s faithful after playing in 149 games and scoring 26 goals for them.”I’ve developed into an even better player, credit to the supporters who always had my back and stayed patient during the tough times. We created a lot of memories together, memories that I will carry with me throughout the rest of my career. I wish the club thing, but the best for the future, and I’ll always be checking in.”Congratulations to Joe Aribo @J_Aribo19, the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League now. #SouthamptonFC pic.twitter.com/AO7QGBtlQz— POOJA!!! (@PoojaMedia) July 9, 2022 Rangers fans may be sad about losing the Nigerian, but the board will probably consider this a good deal because they paid Aribo around $500,000 when they brought him from England. They made a hefty profit that could raise to around $10 million when all bonuses are included.Born in London, he represents Nigeria on the international scene, earning 20 caps to date and scoring in his first two appearances for the Super Eagles against Ukraine and Brazil in 2019.Sunday, 05.05: (2.75) Cruz Azul (2.90) Pachuca (2.75)Aribo could work alongside James Ward-Prowse in a two-man midfield, however, those who have worked with him believe he is at his most effective in a more advanced role, coming in off the right and onto his favoured left foot. Known for his versatility, Aribo is strong and tall and can operate anywhere across midfield or even as a forward.”The Premier League is the best in the world. I’ve been watching it since I was a young boy. It’s always been my goal to play here and show what I can do on this stage. This is where I’ve wanted to be since I was a child growing up playing, so to say that I’m here now is really exciting.”
