The towering defender was out of action for more than a year since February 2021, his last game then being against Kakamega Homeboyz where he played only 12 minutes in the Ingo Derby and had to be substituted, aggravating the slight knock injury he seemed to have picked against Ulinzi Stars in his league debut match with Leopards. He went under the knife to repair his damaged ACL in March 2021 and only managed to resume full training in January and had to wait until April this year to appear in a competitive match.Boost for Kenyan giants AFC Leopards as defensive pair renew their contractsHis return was not without challenges, as he was met by yet another setback after suffering another injury before their match against Wazito but has since overcome that too.Ingwe is currently on a transfer embargo which means they will have to make-do with the players within their ranks, as well as those from the youth side, and an astute defender like Esilaba will be a good player to hang on to ahead of the new season. The team was slapped with a two-window transfer ban for failing to pay their former captain Soter Kayumba his due as directed by FIFA. FIFA then moved to slap the club with a two-window ban meaning they will only recruit new players at the end of next season.
