Otanga stays! gifted striker keen on signing new deal with title hungry KCB

KCB striker Derrick Otanga is keen on extending his stay with the Bankers for a third season and wants to renew his deal that is set to expire in September.Otanga, who has been with KCB since 2020 was the League’s top scorer last season with 16 goals, the golden boot was his first in the top flight in what was largely an underwhelming season for the Bankers.There have been reports linking the attacker with a move away from the club but he has now confirmed that he is keen on renewing his contract with the Zedekiah Otieno-led outfit and that he is going to meet the club hierarchy in the next few days for talks.”I’m still uncertain about my future at KCB given my contract is set to end before the start of the new season. We are meeting with the management this week and I believe everything will be clearer by the end of the discussion,” he told the Star.The former Sony Sugar and Wazito FC man spoke of his delight at bagging the golden boot terming it a proud moment.“I’m happy with what I managed to achieve this season. In the just concluded season however, they struggled and eventually finished in the seventh position and Otanga believes fatigue played a part in the struggles.“We simply suffered from fatigue. We were tired after pushing the title contention up to the final day of the 2020/2021 season,” he added.KCB have already parted ways with five players. Robson Kamura, Dennis Odhiambo, David Okello, Simon Abuko and Victor Omondi will not continue with the club while Baraka Badi has opted to join the police force.
