Daggers drawn as two bodies fight over control of Kenyan football

A battle is brewing between the FKF Transition Committee formed by sports CS Amina Mohamed and the FKF Management Committee over the running of leagues in the country with the Robert Macharia-led management committee warning the transition committee that they have to leave office when their term expires. The transition committee is now in its second month in charge of football in the country. Its mandate comes to an end on 14th August and it appears that the Moses Oyugi-led body is not thinking about exiting as they have already announced that they will be releasing next season’s fixtures soon. The FKF Management Committee, consisting of representatives from clubs and branch chairmen has equally announced that it already has next season’s top-tier fixtures ready bringing more confusion into the game and now Amos Otieno, who is the committee vice president and the FKF Nairobi Branch boss has warned the transition committee that they will have to leave after 14th accusing them of mismanaging football in the country.##EDITORS_CHOICE##“There is no turning back. As branches, we can’t just watch as our league is being mismanaged and when the term of the Transition Committee ends, they should cease managing the league. We are also in consultation with clubs and will release our fixtures after the burial of Kisumu Branch chairman,” Otieno told Nation. The transition committee head of leagues and competitions Ali Amour on the other hand says they will soon have a meeting with clubs to plan for next season.“All is set for the new season since fixtures for the senior men’s and women’s league have been drafted. We will be holding a meeting with FKF-PL clubs to plan and strategize for the new season as we plan to leave a properly structured league next season,” he said.Meanwhile Kenya remains suspended after the move by the government to disband FKF.
