Chelsea’s co-owner and chairman of Chelsea Todd Boehly highly rates Manchester City football club. He didn’t publically said so, but his actions are confirming this theory. The new Blues boss recently forked out around 55 million euros for City’s forward Raheem Sterling and now, he is making another signing from Manchester – Tom Glick. After shaking (or let’s say cleaning out) Chelsea’s board with the departures of Bruce Buck (chairman), Marina Granovskaia (sporting director), Petr Cech (technical and performance advisor) and Guy Lawrence (chief executive), the American businessman appointed former Manchester City’s chief commercial and operating officer as the club’s new president of business.Chelsea FC appoints President of Business.— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) July 18, 2022 Glick will basically have two functions: he will run the club on a day-to day basis, which means he will replace Granovskaia, but will also look after club’s commercial strategy, effectively replacing Lawrence. With Boehly being the chairman himself, only Petr Cech’s chair has been left empty, but since he was an advisor, it’s a question if he will be replaced with another person. “Chelsea FC is an iconic sports institution, known and admired all over the world. I have been very impressed with the vision and mission of Todd Boehly and Clearlake. They have the Chelsea community at the heart of everything they do. We have a huge opportunity here to enhance performance across the board, on behalf of everyone we serve” said Glick for the official website after the appointment, while Boehly said that Glick’s skills and experience will be vital in order to improve Chelsea FC’s key infrastructure and expand the Club’s products and reputation. He also oversaw the creation of Major League Soccer’s Charlotte Football Club, which Chelsea FC will face on 21 July as part of the Club’s US tour of friendly fixtures. Glick has also held positions as Chief Commercial Officer of City Football Group, where he was responsible for global business operations across the world, CEO of Derby County, and senior marketing positions with the New Jersey Nets and the NBA. In English football, he served on the Football League Board, the FA Council, and the Professional Game Board.##NAJAVA_MECA_6513718##
