Departed ex Sofapaka midfielder Wisdom Naya to be laid to rest in Busia

Wisdom Naya will be laid to rest on Saturday 30th July at Port Victoria, Busia County, the burial Committee has confirmed.The former Sofapaka midfielder died on Friday at a Kitale hospital and burial preparations are underway at his home in Kitale with burial set for his father’s rural home in Busia.The Copa Coca-Cola Africa U16 Championship winner died due to complications that arose from amputation that he underwent in January in India. The youngster’s left foot was amputated to prevent a further spread of the soft tissue Sarcoma, a type of cancer of the born that he had been diagnosed with.A young life cut short, rest in peace Wisdom Naya.Condolences to his family and friends. pic.twitter.com/ouRHTos63E— Wazito Football Club (@wazitofc) July 15, 2022 Naya was diagnosed with the cancerous Sarcoma in December 2020 and it’s not until April 2021 that he began his chemotherapy sessions. The chemotherapy however did not help much and after seeking second opinion, the youngster was flown to India where he underwent the career-ending procedure.A central midfielder by trade, Naya was touted for a great career while still schooling at football powerhouse, St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale and it was no surprise that he was recruited by Sofapaka immediately after sitting for his KCSE exams.”The burial date is 30th July in Busia, his father’s rural home.
