The FKF Transition Committee has canceled the draft constitution validation exercise that was set for Wednesday in Nairobi citing unavoidable circumstances. The Moses Oyugi led committee had invited clubs for the meeting that would see the constitution draft passed and adopted as the new FKF Constitution although stakeholders had already termed the exercise a futility as only the general assembly can amend the constitution. The committee has now announced that it has canceled the exercise. In a letter signed by Oyugi, the committee said it had been forced to call off the exercise due to unavoidable circumstances and regretted any inconveniences caused to the stakeholders. It remains to be seen whether hey will eventually hold the forum with their mandate coming to an end on 14th August, five days after the general elections.“This is in reference to the notice given if the FKF Draft Constitution Validation forum to be held on 20th of July 2022. Please note that due to unavoidable circumstances, the forum has been postponed and the Transition Committee will soon communicate a new date. Any inconvenience is regretted. Your continued support is most appreciated,” read the letter.Dear Football stakeholders in the country…….. pic.twitter.com/SH35DVzqQT— Lindah Oguttu (@lindahoguttu) July 19, 2022 This comes at a time when there is a battle between the committee and the FKF Management Committee over who will be in charge of football in the country. The Robert Macharia led management committee insists that the Sports Ministry’s transition committee will have to exit.“There is no turning back. As branches, we can’t just watch as our league is being mismanaged and when the term of the Transition Committee ends, they should cease managing the league. We are also in consultation with clubs and will release our fixtures after the burial of Kisumu Branch chairman,” Amos Otieno the management committee’s vice chairman told Nation.
