Shock and disbelief. These two words can describe the mood in Borussia Dortmund’s camp on Tuesday morning. The day after it was announced that Sebastien Haller has a testicular tumour diagnosis is basically the same as Monday, when the news were announced to the player, team and the coach. Nobody can still believe it has happened. All the hype and excitement ahead of the new season in Bundesliga are now vanished, and everybody is only talking about Haller’s health. But how is he?Borussia Dortmund staff and players show their support for Sébastien Haller, who was diagnosed with a testicular tumour. 🖤💛 pic.twitter.com/faG7L6zGAm— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) July 19, 2022 For the moment, nobody knows. The club announced that the further examinations will take place, but the location is currently unknown, and what’s more important, the tests are not yet fully taken, which means nobody, not even Haller knows the state of his tumor (is it benign or malignant). Apart from the human factor, Borussia’s coach and management must think about other things, like his replacement and the medical part: how did he passed the medical before he signed for Borussia? The Ivorian striker was examined in detail around a month ago, but as Kicker reveals, the annual medical check prescribed in the statutes does not provide for cancer diagnostics in German professional football. And Haller is not alone. During May, Union Berlin announced that defender Timo Baumgartl had been diagnosed with testicular cancer as well as Hertha professional Marco Richter. Both have been successfully operated since their diagnostics. Terrible news from Germany – Ivorian diagnosed with a testicular tumorThe 31 million paid for Haller also means that Borussia doesn’t have the money to invest in his replacement, which means that they have to promote somebody from within the locker room to replace the Ivorian. So far, only the youngster Bradley Fink arrived to the training camp, but he is no solution. There is also a problem with potential replacement, Youssoufa Moukoko. The talented youngster was totally out of the picture last season and he doesn’t want to renew his contract (yet), which expires in 2023. During this preseason, he wanted to get a feel for the prospects of playing time in the coming season. If he is the solution, he must be persuaded to extend, otherwise, Borussia must sell in order to earn at least a bit of money on him. Tough choices are ahead. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6515206##Coach Edin Terzic found out the news about Haller only 30 minutes before the Valencia game, which BVB lost 3-1, showing the same defensive errors for which Marco Rose got the sack in May. “The week went very well until Monday. The news shocked us. It wasn’t easy to find the Switch, so we didn’t discuss it with the team before the game. First of all, we had to release a person from our group. The main thing now is that he gets well again. We will implement a few things to prepare for everything” said Terzic on Tuesday.🫶 @HallerSeb 🫶❤️🤍❤️ pic.twitter.com/Ce5f5p0OWM— GOAL Africa (@GOALAfrica) July 19, 2022 After receiving numerous messages from both fans and players around the world, Haller sent a message to everybody via his social media account. “Thank you all for your many messages of support and affection since yesterday’s announcement. My family and I thank you. I will now focus on my recovery to come back stronger. I want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all these many warm messages received. I was very moved to see these beautiful reactions and I even feel like I don’t deserve so much. But I know that thanks to you it will only be one more test on our way. See you very soon in the ground to celebrate our next victories” posted Haller.
