After a miraculous survival, Salernitana are to strike a miracle deal for Piatek

Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek (pronounced Kreesh-toph Pyon-tech, believe it or not) made a name for himself playing in Italy – and he’s naturally wanted by a Serie A club.According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Salernitana, fresh from a miraculous escape from relegation last term, want to add some firepower – and their sights are fixed on 27-year-old Polish international. No fee is yet being mentioned, but in Salerno, they know that Piatek’s current annual salary is around $3.5 million.Sweet sixteen! Brazilian wonderkid Endrick is already worth $60 millionPiatek’s current club Hertha Berlin have been planning for a life without the guy they paid $26.4 million just two years ago. They’ve already let him return to Italy for a six-month spell with Fiorentina in the second half of last season. This time, they’ll look to offload him permanently. The Pole gave the club from the south of Italy the green light, and it’s now up to two clubs to strike an agreement. The career path of this player is a bit strange, it has to be said. After proving himself in his homeland, Genoa paid just under $5 million to sign Piatek from Cracovia in July of 2018. After banging in 13 Serie A goals in his first 19 matches, Piatek became an instant hit – and AC Milan unexpectedly swooped in and offered Genoa $38.5 million for the forward. The Rossoblu couldn’t say no to a $33.5 million profit after just six months, and they gleefully allowed their goalscorer to move on in January 2019.##NAJAVA_MECA_6521216##But it didn’t work out for the Pole at San Siro. A Milan side lacking in direction and organisation wasn’t the best place for any player. However, 16 goals in 41 appearances was still a respectable return, and the call came from the capital of Germany just a year later. Hertha shelled out $26.4 million, Milan took a $12 million hit, and everyone was happy – at least for a while.Piatek scored just 12 goals in 57 games for the blue and whites of Berlin and was shipped out on loan to Fiorentina in January 2022, two years after spending all that cash. Once back in Italy, Piatek found his feet again. Burdened with the task of replacing the recently-departed Dusan Vlahovic for Viola, the Pole showed glimpses of quality as he scored six times in a total of 18 matches.SERIE A RETURN FOR PISTOLERO? 🇮🇹Krzysztof Piątek may return back again to the Serie A.According to Gianluca Di Marzio, US Salernitana 1919 have announced their interest in the Polish striker.Luckily for them, Hertha Berlin are open to hearing offers for Piątek.#SerieA pic.twitter.com/geC4Y3pHKM— PSN Futbol (@PSN_Futbol) July 19, 2022 Meanwhile, Salernitana looked destined to go down in their first season back in the top flight but survived primarily thanks to their energetic coach Davide Nicola and ten goals scored by Federico Bonazzoli. However, the Granata team scored just 33 goals in 38 matchdays, which must be improved to avoid another year of flirting with demotion.Salernitana have already moved to acquire 22-year-old Norwegian attacker Erik Botheim on a free transfer from Russian club Krasnodar to partner Piatek. But Granata are also working to strengthen on the other end of the pitch, with centre-back Matteo Lovato from Atalanta in a $7 million transfer. Promising defender Lorenzo Pirola is set to arrive on a season-long loan from Inter.
