Homeboyz explain why they let starman Okoth leave

Kakamega Homeboyz team manager, Boniface Imbenzi says they decided to release David Okoth to join Kenya Police out of goodwill as he has been offered a job in the police force by the law enforcers.Okoth, Homeboyz’s last season top scorer with 11 goals was among the four players unveiled by the law enforcers on Tuesday. The others are Patilah Omoto, Baraka Badi and Reagan Otieno. The four will be part of the Police team next season and they will also be incorporated into the service.##NAJAVA_MECA_6521216##There were reports of push and pull between Homeboyz and Police over the signing of Okoth with the Kakamega-based side reluctant to let go of their deadly left-footed forward. The two parties eventually struck a deal that resulted in the former Nzoia Sugar FC man joining the Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omolo-led team.Imbenzi says they finally decided to let the player go because of the job offer that he had on the table.“He had three years remaining on his contract and was our first team player. However, as you know very well when a team like Police approaches you as a player and tells you they want to offer you employment then that is very important,” he told Citizen.OFFICIAL: FKFPL side Kenya Police FC has confirmed the signing of Reagan Otieno, Baraka Badi both from KCB, Patilah Omoto from Kariobangi Sharks and David Okoth from Kakamega Homeboyz.#Kefootball pic.twitter.com/cB3Ya62R6u— Kefootball_ (@Kefootball1) July 19, 2022 A host of players like Sylvester Owino, Brian Eshihanda, Francis Omondi, among others have been linked with a move away from the club but Imbenzi insists that they are not open to disassembling the team that lost the league title by goal difference last season.“We received requests from other clubs interested in signing our players but David Okoth is the only player we opened an exit door for him to join Police FC,” he added.Meanwhile former Mathare United winger Alphonce Ndonye has joined Homeboyz.
