AFC Leopards are keen on retaining striker John Makwata for the 2022/23 season, club secretary general Gilbert Andugu has confirmed.Makwata joined Ingwe in February from Kenya Police FC on loan until the end of the season and found the back of the net five times for the club in a season that they finished in the fifth position after overcoming what was a very poor start to the campaign.##NAJAVA_MECA_6534662##Ingwe now want to retain the seasoned striker but without divulging much, Andugu says there are procedures to be followed before they can extend Makwata’s stay at the club for at least one more season.“We definitely want to retain him but there are a number of things that ought to be done before we can extend his stay at the club. There are also that he has to sort out with his parent club, Kenya Police and so it is a process and we will see what happens in the next few weeks, the interest is there but there are procedures to follow,” he stated. The club boss also disclosed that they are keen on renewing Cliff Nyakeya’s contract with the winger currently out of contract.“Talks are ongoing between us and the player and we are confident. The good thing is that he wants to continue with us and that makes things easier, there are a few things that we need to sort out and we will be good to go,” he added.John Makwata scores against his parent club and celebrates vizuri.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/VedWdhOfH6— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) March 20, 2022 “Nyakeya is a good player and we definitely want to retain him, he is an important asset to the team and we will do our best to retain him and the other players because we want to compete next season, we want to have a competitive squad,”
