The new Premier League season is set to kick off next weekend, so most clubs arranged high-profile friendlies to fine-tune their tactics and get the adrenaline going in time for the new campaign. If those warm-up matches are anything to judge by, Arsenal will start the new season strongly – and powered by the classy Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian, who recently arrived from Manchester City, scored a fine hat-trick. Bukayo Saka added two goals of his own to give the Gunners a 6-0 win over Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium. It was the thunderous start from Mikel Arteta’s team that decided the winners of the Emirates Cup, Arsenal’s traditional pre-season tournament, as the boys in red and white hit four goals in just nine first-half minutes.Martin Odegaard played a great ball into space for Saka, who was bundled over in the area. Saka himself stepped up and stroked the resulting penalty in to give his team a 10th-minute lead.Gabriel Jesus stepped onto the scene shortly, scoring two goals in as many minutes to make it a perfect introduction – this was his first appearance at the Emirates in an Arsenal shirt.Saka added another to make the scoreline read 4-0 with just 19 minutes gone. It was a disaster from Sevilla’s point of view, but this was all about Arsenal. It was plain to see that the fans could not wait for the season to kick off as they filled the stands in the hope of seeing their team finally lift a long-overdue trophy – and no, they didn’t think about the Emirates Cup, but rather a “real” piece of silverware.William Saliba keeps his cool 🥶(via @Arsenal)pic.twitter.com/88MJoBsdeR— B/R Football (@brfootball) July 30, 2022 Jesus hooked another goal with 20 minutes to notch a hat-trick and to make it 5-0 before Eddie Nketiah scored the late sixth following a swift Gunners’ counter-attack.This was a great occasion for Olexandr Zinchenko to get his Arsenal career going in front of his new fanbase, while Arteta also gave starts to Thomas Partey, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli.Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui, on the other hand, has had a sobering afternoon on the sunny London afternoon as he watched his team concede far too many goals far too easily. Los Nervionenses did create a few chances, but overall they were far inferior.🔥 𝗛𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝟱! 🔥🔴 6-0 ⚫️ (FT) pic.twitter.com/bE5gzzkDLB— Arsenal (@Arsenal) July 30, 2022 Arsenal have got a trophy in August.
