The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has confirmed dates for the U-17 AFCON Zonal qualifiers set to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.Speaking following the deliberations, CECAFA’s Executive Director Auka Gecheo, confirmed the dates for the Zonal qualifier, revealing the tournament will take place from September 30 to October 15.“Following several consultations with the Ethiopia Football Federation, we confirm that the U-17 AFCON Zonal qualifiers will take place in Addis Ababa between September 30th to October 5th,” Gecheo as quoted on CECAFAonline.CONFIRMED ⚠️CECAFA U17 Regional qualifiers for the AFCON U17 will take place in Addis Ababa from Friday, 30 September to Saturday, 15 October 2022.The two finalists will qualify for the AFCON U17 which will take place in #Algeria in 2023.Uganda are the defending champions. pic.twitter.com/vdAQEdqhMY— Cephas TENDEREZA (@CephasTendereza) August 3, 2022 The CECAFA Executive Director also asked clubs to register before the deadline on September 20th, 2022, with the draw set to be made four days before the close of the registration period.Further, Gecheo said that teams will be expected to arrive in Ethiopia on September 26 so as to undergo MRI tests that will be supervised by the Confederation of African Football representatives.##NAJAVA_MECA_6548832##The 2021 U17 AFCON was set to be held in Morocco last year but it was canceled four days to the start due to the health crisis then as well as the travel restrictions in a number of countries that would have made it hard.Uganda are the defending CECAFA champions.
