Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Stephen Opoku is hoping to shake off an harmstring injury before the start of the 2022-2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season.Opoku has been out for almost two months but is praying to be cleared by the medics to contest for playing time before the new term gets underway.According to the government-installed FKF Transition Committee, the new season is supposed to kick off early next month. However, a handful of clubs and relevant stakeholders have vowed to give the competition organized and ran by the committee a wide berth as it is not sanctioned by CAF and FIFA.##NAJAVA_MECA_6580666##Kenya is still in FIFA’s bad books following the move by the government to take over the running of the game in November last year. The Ghanaian midfielder who joined Homeboyz in February last year from Singida United said he was two weeks shy of full recovering and was confident of attaining the needed match fitness on time.“I have been out for almost two months but I am hoping that I will pass the fitness tests before the new season starts off. I have made good progress in as far as rehabilitation is concerned and hopefully, I will be ready to help the team from match day one,” he said.##NAJAVA_MECA_4325##Meanwhile, Opoku thanked AFC Leopards team doctor Patrick Ngusale for his rare act of kindness and he has been helping him in reconditioning the affected limb for a pocket friendly fee. The midfielder who was initially linked with a move to Nairobi City Stars termed the medic as a professional par excellence.“My gratitude goes to my club and the Leopards doctor for walking with me through the challenging period,” he said.
