Micho pleased with Uganda Cranes preparation ahead of CHAN qualifier

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has expressed his delight with his team’s preparations for the postponed 2022 African Nations Championships (CHAN) slated to take place in Algeria from 8-31 January 2023.Over the weekend, the Serbian head coach oversaw his team play to a barren draw against giant slayers Ethiopia who defeated Egypt 2-0 in the 2023 Africa Cup of nations qualifiers back in June. With Uganda set to face East African rivals Tanzania in a two legged qualifier for a spot in the 2023 continental tournament featuring local players, Micho was pleased with how his team held their own as they prepared for the opposition.##NAJAVA_MECA_6588049##“There is no training session that could have placed situation checkups than we have had. We have it in mind that we played a good team that has practically beaten Egypt recently, and only one or two players have missed from that team. They are a very competitive side,” he said.“We have seven days from now to polish a few aspects especially in the final third and I believe the team will be ready to compete next Sunday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium,” he added.Uganda will face Zanzibar in a friendly game on Wednesday before connecting to Tanzania mainland for the first leg of the CHAN Qualifiers slated for Sunday, 28th August at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium. pic.twitter.com/LDKVE7wZqT— FUFA (@OfficialFUFA) August 22, 2022 The first leg of the CHAN Qualifiers between Uganda and Tanzania will be played on Sunday, 28th August in Dar es Salaam. The return leg at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende will be played on 3rd September with the winner on aggregate qualifying to the final tournament in Algeria. This will be third time both nations clash in the qualifiers with either winning once.Cairo turns white as Zamalek win first ever back to back league titlesTanzania beat Uganda 3-1 in the qualifiers for 2009 edition and the Cranes paid back by eliminating Taifa Stars 4-1 for the 2014 edition.Uganda has played in all but the first edition (2009) since inception of the competition.Uganda Cranes Travelling SquadGoalkeepers: Nafian Alionzi (URA FC), Denis Otim (Express FC), Mathias Muwanga (Onduparaka FC)Defenders: Livingstone Mulondo (Vipers SC), Najib Fesali (URA FC), Kenneth Ssemakula (SC Villa), John Revita (KCCA FC), Walter Ochora (BUL FC), Gavin Kizito Mugweri (SC Villa), James Begisa (URA FC), Ibrahim Juma (KCCA FC), Derrick Ndahiro (URA FC)Midfielders: Joseph Marvin Youngman (Vipers SC), Siraje Ssentamu (Vipers SC), Saidi Kyeyune (URA FC), Moses Waiswa (KCCA FC), Isma Mugulusi (Unattached)Forwards: Milton Karisa (Vipers SC), Travis Mutyaba (SC Villa), Rogers Mato (KCCA FC), Martin Kizza (Express FC), Richard Basangwa (Gaddafi FC), Hakim Kiwanuka (Proline FC)
