Steven Wakanya will not be rejoining Nzoia Sugar FC after a last-minute change of heart and has instead opted to link up with newbies APS Bomet instead. The defensive midfielder is currently a free agent after parting ways with Kakamega Homeboyz. He was axed by last season’s league runners-up after the expiry of his contract with the club and coach Salim Babu was keen on taking him back to Nzoia Sugar, a side he played for in 2018.##NAJAVA_MECA_6588422##“He is a good player and an experienced one for that matter and I believe that there is something that he will bring to the team. He is a player who I like his style of play and I am hopeful that we will strike a deal that will see him rejoin us,” Babu said in an earlier interview. The player however stopped training with the millers and it has now emerged that he is in the radar of APS Bomet. He is currently part of Bomet’s squad that is in Nairobi for pre-season.“We had an agreement but I do not know where he is right now. It seems he has decided to go elsewhere and that means we will have to look for another player of his caliber,” Babu told Mozzart Sport.APS coach Charles Odera had in an earlier interview said that he was going to bring on board five players with Wakanya now taking the sole available midfield slot.“As I said, we are not going to overhaul the team. We are going to bring on board a maximum of five players. We need an experienced goalkeeper, one who has played in the premier league. We also need a fullback who can play both in the right and left positions, one central defender, one central midfielder and a striker. Once we get these players we will be good to go”.Meja, ‘Marcelo’ return for UEFA Europa Conference League as Sichenje misses
