Former Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama has opened up on the toughest team and player he has come up against in the Major Soccer League (MLS).The tenacious midfielder who plies his trade with Canadian outfit CF Montréal where he has been trusted with the captain’s armband has been a mainstay at the side since joining them back in March 2020.Ugandan international ditches Gor Mahia for greener pastures in CongoWanyama named the 2018 MLS champions Atlanta United as the toughest team he has faced in the league but admitted that they have struggled for results this season.“The Eastern Conference is a bit awkward. We have teams like Philadelphia and Nashville who were here last season but I would say Atlanta. I do not understand how they do not get results but against us, they have done well.I know we beat them at home and drew away but they are the toughest team to play, they know how we play and they always try to get the result against us,” said Wanyama in an interview with Extra Time.Atlanta are currently fourth from bottom in the log and need a miracle to qualify for the MLS Playoffs while Montréal are having a season to remember as they currently sit in the fourth.Having received a red card back in August 2021 for an altercation with Josef Martinez, Wanyama named the forward as one of the toughest opponents he has faced in the league.Oburu set to miss second game of the season with injury“Atlanta also have a lot of dangerous players, like (Luiz) Araujo and (Josef) Martinez who have killer instincts. If you give them little space they can kill you and that is what makes them dangerous but this season, things have not gone their way but they have some great players,” added Wanyama.
