No new names at Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards as transfer window set for Wednesday closure

With less than two weeks left before the 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League gets underway as planned, teams only have one more day to complete the process of bolstering their squads as the transfer window is set to close on 31 August 2022.That is according to an earlier communique issued by the government appointed FKF Transition Committee that revealed the closing dates for the top flight FKF Premier League and the Kenya Women’s Premier League.“The Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee hereby notifies all FKF Premier League Clubs & the FKF Women’s Premier League Clubs for the 2022/2023 Season and all relevant stakeholders that the transfer window for the FKF Premier League & FKF Women’s Premier League that has been open since the end of the 2021/22 Season will close on 31st August 2022,” read the letter signed by the committee’s Head of Secretariat Lindah Oguttu.FKF PL and WPL transfer window@FKFtransition pic.twitter.com/w0QeHf7EUW— Lindah Oguttu (@lindahoguttu) July 28, 2022 So far, a majority of teams have already been active in the market with Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno’s KCB leading the way after completing the signatures of up to thirteen players.Other clubs like record champions Gor Mahia and their bitter rivals AFC Leopards have however not made any signing in the window due to the transfer ban imposed on them by world football governing body FIFA.Meanwhile the 2022/2023 season is expected to get underway on September 10 despite heavy uncertainty from teams.In week one fixtures released, defending champions Tusker FC are penciled to take on Posta Rangers.
