They still play bad, but who cares? United win third game in a row

Even with a surprise (and deserved) win over Liverpool and a tough game at Southampton, Manchester United is still not playing well. But the desperate fans don’t care much, they are happy that their club has started winning at last, and looking at the winning column, Erik Ten Hag’s men have done what they should, they won tonight in Leicester and moved up to 5th spot, just two points behind Tottenham: Leicester – Manchester United 0-1.3 – Leicester City have won their last three Premier League games when starting the day bottom of the table, with this their first such match since a 2-0 victory over Swansea in April 2015. Basement.— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) September 1, 2022 The home team is in deep crisis. They lost Wesley Fofana, but apart from that, it’s the same team, with quality players, but currently without chemistry, will or confidence. Leicester remains among three teams without a win so far (Everton and Wolverhampton are other clubs) and from tonight, they are at the bottom of the Premier League and will stay there for some time, if they continue to play like this. The moody atmosphere in the club was additionally worsened by the chairman’s open letter to supporters just before the game, in which he used the word ‘stability’ to explain the lack of new players and investments. Then the players faced an optimistic United squad, with new signing Anthony watching his new teammates and just couldn’t do anything. And they should, considering that the Red Devils didn’t play very well.Ronaldo wanted to demote Maguire, change tactics to his likingThe game started as boring as it could, and until United took the lead in the 23rd minute, it looked like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester. Using the terrible Leicester form, the Red Devils even won the possession battle and managed to use a terrible defensive setup by the Foxes. Rashford found Sancho in between the two centre-backs, and the winger had plenty of time for a cool finish – 1-0. Manchester had another good chance 10 minutes after the opening goal, but this time, Sancho’s effort was blocked by Evans in time.Jadon Sancho vs all of Leicester’s starting XI in the first-half:xG 1.01-0.04Touches in opp box: 5-0Shots: 2-2Shots on target: 1-1Big chances: 1-0A very poor first-half from the Foxes. 🫣 pic.twitter.com/pwGnUs4mS2— Squawka (@Squawka) September 1, 2022 Leicester got a good amount of critique from boss Brendan Rodgers as they played a lot better in the second half, but still not enough to get at least a point. Maddison took a superb free kick in the 51st minute, but De Gea somehow managed to clear the ball from the very corner of the goal. United didn’t have a single shot on goal in the first 30 minutes of the second half and even lost the possession battle (34%), but Leicester just couldn’t use this. Ten Hag gave Casemiro his United debut in the 58th minute and introduced Ronaldo 10 minutes later. The Portuguese had a great chance in the 81st minute when he broke down the left, and when everybody expected him to shoot, they unexpectedly decided to pass the ball and did it badly. Leicester tried again through Maddison, but without any help from his teammate, he couldn’t be the difference maker tonight.PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 5TuesdayFulham – Brighton 2-1 (0-0)/Mitrovic 48, Dunk 55 og – Mac Allister 60 pen/Crystal Palace – Brentford 1-1 (1-0)/Zaha 59 – Wissa 88/Southampton – Chelsea 2-1 (1-1)/Lavia 28, Armstrong 45+1 – Sterling 23/Leeds – Everton 1-1 (0-1)/Sinisterra 55 – Gordon 17/WednesdayBournemouth – Wolverhampton 0-0Arsenal – Aston Villa 2-1 (1-0)/Jesus 30, Martinelli 74 – Luiz 77/Man City – Nottingham Forest 6-0 (3-0)/Haaland 12, 23, 38, Cancelo 50, Alvarez 87/West Ham – Tottenham 1-1 (0-1)/Soucek 55 – Kehrer 34 og/Liverpool – Newcastle 2-1 (0-1)/Firmino 61, Carvalho 90+7 – Isak 38/ThursdayLeicester – Man.Utd. 0-1 (0-1)/Sancho 23/
