Former Gor Mahia coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno got one better of his side albeit in a pre season game as his KCB FC side edged K’Ogalo 2-1 on Saturday morning in a clash staged at the ABSA Sports Club.The game was off to a frenetic start as there was end to end action from both sides who aimed to get an early goal to settle the nerves but the bright start from both teams fizzled off.KCB were limited to set piece chances as they had a number of corners which Gor Mahia comfortably dealt with and a few free kicks from outside the box that drew routine saves from Gad Mathews in goal.Make that 13! KCB sign five more playersK’Ogalo had a brilliant chance to break the deadlock in the 38th minute when Peter Lwasa threaded in neat through ball to John Macharia whose shot was saved by Gabriel Andika.KCB were handed a penalty in the dying minutes of the first half when Dennis Nga’ng’a brought down John ‘Mavado’ Mwangi inside the box with Edmond Adem stepping up to take the penalty. The forward who was roped in the current transfer window from Gogo Boys held his nerve to slot the ball home and hand KCB the lead with the last kick of the first half.The second half was a more balanced affair after both teams made wholesome changes to bolster their side but Gor Mahia were clumsy at the back as the conceded another penalty. Former Wazito midfielder Kennedy Owino took on the set piece duties but he could not hold his nerve as Gad Mathews who is infamous for saving penalties kept it out in the 62nd minute.KCB were meant to rue their missed chance almost immediately as Benson Omala found himself in acres of space after beating the offside trap to slot the ball home two minutes later.Gor Mahia to face KCB in pre-season friendlyThe game that was tight opened up as KCB wasted no time in regaining their lead when James Mazembe who was making a return from injury hit a one time volley after the K’Ogalo defense failed to clear their lines.Gor Mahia pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages of the game but KCB held on for the win to hand themselves a shot in the arm as teams continue with their preparations of the game.
