AFC Leopards and Ulinzi Stars played out o a one-all draw in an pre-season friendly match staged at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.With the league starting in a fortnight, both teams used the game to sharpen their sides ahead of their first assignments of the season. Leopards start the season against Homeboyz while Ulinzi will be up against Gor Mahia. Both teams will be away from home.The first real chance of the game went Leopards’ way in the 10th minute when Peter Thiong’o picked Ojo Olaniyi with a pin-point cross. The Nigerian’s header failed to hit the target narrowly. The striker had another chance a minute later but Ulinzi captain James Saruni block his shot on a one vs one situation.The match slowly turned to a fierce battle with tackles flying in. It resulted in bookings for Leopards pair of Brian Wanyama and Nesta Olum.Ulinzi had a good opportunity in the 28th minute but they squandered. Boniface Muchiri and Steven Etyang exchanged passes before the later set up Masita Masita only for the forward to squander a good chance, he shot over with the goal at his mercy. He threw away another clear-cut chance on the 33rd as his feeble shot was easily collected by Levis Opiyo on Leopards goal.The first half ended barren.The striker second half looked livelier with both teams showing more aggressiveness going forward. Clear-cut chances were however a handful with the final ball troubling both teams. Muchiri had a good chance to break the deadlock in the 65th minute but his shot went straight into Opiyo’s waiting arms.Both teams refreshed their squads in the second stanza bringing in new faces as fitness issues started to show in those that had started the game.At the end of the game there was nothing to separate the sides Ina match that few chances were created.
