Ulinzi Stars have completed the signing of three new players to beef up the squad ahead of the new campaign that starts in two weeks’ time, coach Vincent ‘Moriero’ Otieno has confirmed. The Soldiers had a rather underwhelming 2021/22 season where they finished 13th in the league with a paltry 20 points. It resulted in the departure of 2010 Kenyan Premier League winning coach Benjamin Nyangweso and the appointment of Moriero as head coach. He has been in charge of the team during pre-season.##NAJAVA_MECA_6615604##The tactician has now beefed up the team by acquiring three players. The three are Elly Saenyi who scored 26 league goals for Mwatate United last season and was the top scorer in the second tier. Mara Sugar attacking midfielder Ruben Mita has also been roped in and completing the list is Bidco United defensive midfielder Jacob ‘Yobo’ Onyango. Moriero hopes that the two attacking acquisitions will ease the scoring burden for his team.“We have brought the National Super League top scorer, Elly, Mita from Mara Sugar, and Jacob Onyango from Bidco United. Our attacking department was a little weak last season and we decided to strengthen that department and I think that we are now good to go,” he stated. On Sunday, Ulinzi took on AFC Leopards in a friendly match at the Nyayo National Stadium. The match ended in a barren draw but the tactician picked positives from the duel.🚨Pre-season friendlyAFC Leopards 0️⃣-0️⃣Ulinzi Stars pic.twitter.com/Z259mrbl8h— Ulinzi Stars FC (@UlinziStarsFC) September 4, 2022 “It was not a bad game although we started the game slowly in the first half. Tactically I can say it worked well for us because we wanted to beat them on the counter but Leopards did well to deny us, they defended well in those situations and I think the draw is a fair result in this game,” he added.Bidco start the new season with an away match against Gor Mahia on 24th September.
