Ulinzi Stars, Ingwe fault Transition Committee for league postponement

Ulinzi Stars head coach Vincent Otieno and his AFC Leopards counterpart Patrick Aussems have faulted the FKF Transition Committee’s decision to postpone the league kick-off date saying it has disoriented their plans. The 2022/23 FKF Premier League season was set to commence on 10th September but the committee, without giving any proper explanation opted to push it forward by a further two weeks to 24th September leaving coaches with a headache of planning for further pre-season.##NAJAVA_MECA_6614953##On Sunday, Leopards hosted Ulinzi Stars in a friendly match at the Nyayo National Stadium and after the game, both coaches expressed their disappointment at the decision. Otieno says his players were ready for the commencement of the league and wants the issues affecting the league kick-off addressed before the new season starts.“On our side, it is a big challenge because we have prepared for six weeks and we were ready to play only for them to postpone the commencement of the new season. It destabilizes the team because the players were eager to play and now you have to reset their minds because the kick-off date has been moved without a proper explanation. Our prayer is that all the relevant people can work together so that we can go back to playing football,” he said.##EDITORS_CHOICE##On his part, Aussems termed the decision as a ‘disrespect’ to the coaches as it affects their plans. He added that it tarnishes the name of Kenya football in general.“This is a lack of respect for my job, it is a disrespect for a professional coach’s job because we train and play as per instructions from the people in charge of the league and now one week ago they said that we need to wait for two more weeks. I know some other coaches do not care but personally, I need to be ready for the first game and it now means that I have to change all my plans. It is not a good point for Kenyan football because we change things one week before the beginning of the new season and we need to be more professional,” he added.Leopards were set to play Kakamega Homeboyz on week one while Ulinzi had a date with Gor Mahia.
