Former Football administrator Twaha Mabarak protests Nick Mwendwa’s return to FKF

Former Kenya Football Federation (KFF) chairman Twaha Mbarak has lashed out at Nick Mwendwa after the football administrator signaled that he is returning to the helm of Kenyan football. On Friday morning, a letter addressed to FIFA president Gianni Infantino emerged online. In the letter, the beleaguered boss informed the FIFA supremo that he was taking charge of Kenyan football again. After ten months of frustration, arrests and being locked in the cold, embattled Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has crept back to life after confirming his resumption to office with immediate effect.https://t.co/GZnAHAApLg— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) September 9, 2022 This came ten months after his ouster as president after the government moved to dissolve FKF over alleged graft by Mwendwa’s office. Football has since been under the FKF Transition Committee and its formation resulted in Kenya being suspended by FIFA in February.Mwendwa’s move to declare that he back comes a fortnight before the time the FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) was scheduled to kick off and it has thrown the league kick-off into doubt. The stakeholders’ meeting called by the transition committee experienced a poor turnout on Friday with most of the clubs opting to stay away.##NAJAVA_MECA_6633075##Twaha, who has been keen on succeeding Mwendwa as the federation boss has termed the move as contempt of court as the High Court ruled that Sports CS Amina Mohamed did not break any law in dissolving the federation.“Mwendwa challenged the dissolution of the FKF in the High Court and the court gave its verdict that the CS acted by the constitution of the land. It’s unfortunate Mwendwa is acting in contempt of court orders which he challenged,” he told the Star.OfficialNick Mwendwa is back as the Football Kenya Federation President.#KEFootball pic.twitter.com/ARCmpGFzaU— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) September 9, 2022 “By claiming FKF leadership, Mwendwa is operating illegally against the Sports Act and in contempt of court,”.The football administrator further argues that the corruption charges leveled against Mwendwa are yet to be dropped but interestingly Mwendwa is yet to take a plea in court.“FKF was dissolved due to claims of corruption and was not enrolled by the Registrar for failure to comply with the Sports Act as required by the Constitution of Kenya. In that regard, FKF stands dissolved. Audit report implicated FKF in funds embezzlement and a case is still pending in court,” Mbarak added.Exclusive: Former Homeboyz coach Bernard Mwalala set to take over at Ulinzi Stars
