Odada handed green light to feature in the MLS, a month after signing

After more than a month of waiting, Kenyan international Richard Odada will finally take to the field for his new side Philadelphia Union as he has finally been handed his visa clearance and is itching to feature for the side. The lanky midfielder made the switch from 1991 UEFA Champions League winner Red Star Belgrade to the Major Soccer League (MLS) at the start of August but the move was pending a visa clearance from the United States of America. Why Odada took penalty ahead of Olunga in win over RwandaThe situation led to the former AFC Leopards Youth midfielder to train alone in Serbia where he last featured for Metalac Gornji after being shipped out on loan to the side from his parent club Red Star Belgrade. As the midfielder awaited visa clearance, he was left to train by himself in Serbia, where he last played for Metalac Gornji Milanovac, on loan from Red Star Belgrade.Odada was delighted to be cleared to finally feature for his new side and was also impressed with their progress after watching the team as he has also adapted well to life in Philadelphia.”I feel happy and the boys, they’re pushing so much.I was watching the games and I was seeing that they were doing a good job. I feel good, like I’m part of this. I can’t wait to start to get some minutes and start playing.“It’s very good. The people, the players, the staff, everybody is positive. I enjoy it, and I feel like I’m part of this,” the tenacious midfielder told Daily Times.Odada was pushed to the periphery at Red Star as he only featured twice for the record Serbian champions despite joining the side back in 2019 and was twice sent on loan to gain more game time.Odada will join fellow Kenyan Victor Wanyama in the MLS who turns out for CF Montreal as he admitted that he has a perfect relationship with the former Harambee Stars skipper who has since retired from international football.”He’s my friend, we speak a lot. When I moved here, I was asking him a couple of questions, how is the league and everything. The league has very good players, and also young players that are coming in to learn a lot. For me, the league is perfect,” said the 21-year-old.Philadelphia head coach on what Odada brings to the clubOdada who once tired out for Juventus revealed that he will put his best foot forward at Philadelphia who currently lead the Eastern Conference with a massive 10-point buffer against Montreal.”I came here to help my team and to give 100 percent every training and game. That’s the only thing I can promise, to give 100 percent all the time,” added Odada.
