APS Bomet FC head coach Charles Odera was impressed by his team’s performance in the one-all draw against Tusker FC on Friday in Kericho and believes that his team is on the right path ahead of their top-flight bow.Bomet earned a promotion to the top tier at the end of last season after topping the second tier and the team has intensified training after recruiting massively in the just concluded transfer window. Their promotion is however a subject of a court battle. The Sports Tribunal has since ordered that they should not be included in the 2022/23 fixtures until a case challenging their elevation to Kenya’s top league is hard and determined. On Friday afternoon they took on champions Tusker FC in a friendly duel in Kericho, a match that ended in a one-all draw. Tusker drew first blood through Shaphan Oyugi in the first half before Frank Ouya drew the hosts’ level with a second-half goal. Nothing could separate the two teams at full time.BREAKINGThe Sports Disputes Tribunal has temporarily suspended the promotion of APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco to the FKF Premier League. The Transition Committee ordered not to include them in their fixtures.#KEFootball pic.twitter.com/ZhfUlTVnxi— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) September 2, 2022 Odera was happy with his side’s performance against the Brewers. He lauded the team’s show, particularly in the second half.”This was an invaluable friendly match for us because we played against the champions, multiple times winners of the league and we gave a good account of ourselves in that game. In the first half, we are a little timid but at halftime, I tried to calm their nerves and it worked well because we came back strongly, attacked well, and we got a goal. We also prevented Tusker from scoring more goals and I am satisfied from my end,” he said. The team has so far played eight friendly matches against teams like AFC Leopards, Kakamega Homeboyz and KCB and Odera has seen his team grow from strength to strength.”We have so far played eight friendly matches. We have faced five against Premier League teams, two against Super League sides, and two teams from the Division One League. These matches have helped me sharpen the team well, it has also played a part in helping us gel and I am looking forward to more of such games. The friendly games have helped us identify the weaknesses that we have and we try to work on the in training. Every time we’ve worked on a mistake I have seen improvement in the next game and that means we are growing. I believe we are almost there in terms of preparedness,” the tactician added.Reports: Milan set to offload Divock Origi
