Evergreen Tusker captain Mieno team ready for new season

Tusker FC captain Humphrey Mieno has declared that his team is ready for the new season and added that they will be out to retain their title, which will be the third in a row for the Robert Matano-led outfit.The Brewers have been in pre-season for close to three months now even as the actual kick-off date for the new campaign remains a subject of speculation. The team has currently pitched camp in Kericho and has featured in a host of friendly games against teams from and around Kericho County.In an interview with the club media, the veteran midfielder declared his team ready for the 2022/23 campaign. He says he has noted positives at the training ground this week that have convinced him that they are ripe for a title defence.“I think the team is ready, the team has always been ready. We are prepared to defend the title, we know that it is not going to be easy but I think we are ready. Goals from Eric Mmata and Deogratious Ojok settled the duel and Mieno admits that the Gusii-based side gave them a good challenge.“I can say that it was a good training match for us, playing against a side from Gusii. It was a good side because they made us work for the win but finally we overcame them and I can say that it was a good training match for us and we will build from here onwards,” he stated.He has enjoyed the camping in Kericho saying it has helped them bond well.“It has been great camping here in Kericho.
