Ayunga: Our hardwork paid off against Celtic

St. Mirren FC forward Jonah Ayunga has reveled in the win over Celtic FC on Saturday saying the work they did at the training ground paid off against the champions in a match that they saw little of the ball.Celtic had 80% of the ball but a masterstroke of a performance from the hosts saw them pick a 2-0-win courtesy of goals from Ayunga and Mark O’Hara. It was Celtic’s first defeat of the season in the Scottish league. In an interview, Ayunga spoke of their delight in beating Celtic. He says it is something that they worked on at the training ground and are glad that their plan paid off.“To have what we worked on so hard in training all week come off in the game is very satisfying. It’s a huge win. It’s probably the biggest scalp we can take in the league. We’re very happy with the result,” he told Renfrewshire Live Sport.Jonah Ayunga has been directly involved in 9 out of the 13 St Mirren goals this season (69%)6 goals and 3 assists in 11 games unbelievable🔥 pic.twitter.com/s11cpflLC3— Silky Kiltie🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 (@Jml1877) September 20, 2022 “I’ve got a couple of friends who have come up to Scotland and I’ve watched them on TV playing Celtic and Rangers and thought ‘wow, that’s a massive game to be a part of. It was really enjoyable to be able to go out there, do it myself and make my mark in the game as well.”##NAJAVA_MECA_6660731##The Kenyan striker was further satisfied to see the fans happy at full time saying no one gave them a chance heading into the game.“We made our passes count, got ourselves up the pitch and took our chances when they came. It was great to see so many happy faces in the stands at full-time. I don’t think coming into the game anyone gave us a chance at all,”“But the fans were right behind us from the off and stayed with us the whole game. They gave us that extra lift we needed to keep us going.”Next for St. Mirren is an away game against Livingston on 1st October.Sofapaka land highly rated teenager
