Gor Mahia captain Philemon Otieno has come out to back the decision by his club and the other 17 top-flight clubs to boycott the league run by the FKF Transition Committee.The Lindah Ogutu led committee have announced that the top tier league will commence on 1st October while bullish FKF President Nick Mwendwa who is making a comeback into football management maintains that the league will commence at the end of October.On Wednesday premier league clubs took a bold step by announcing that they will not take part in a league not recognized by FIFA and in the process end the Transition Committee’s hopes of running football for at least one more season. The government installed committee has been in charge of football since October 2021 and during their tenure, Kenya got suspended by FIFA and the national teams were thus banished from international football. Playing in leagues that are only recognized locally is like playing to futility,” he told CitizenHe further urged all stakeholders to ensure that Kenya is back into the international stage and that Kenyan leagues are recognized outside the borders.“As of now we are still not sure when exactly we will go back to the pitch for the new season. The dragging by stakeholders is quite unfair to us.
