Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have revealed the reason as to why they refused to take part in the ongoing eight team Elite PreSeason Cup being used by participating clubs as a chance to sharpen their tools ahead of the 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League that is on the horizon.Initially, the 19 time Kenyan champions had been penciled to be among one of the participating teams in the preseason tournament organized by Kariobangi Sharks but K’Ogalo withdrew from the tournament in the very last minute amidst various reports as to their reason for pulling out.Today we in it again.#ElitePreseasonCup pic.twitter.com/8ZlhYK3sUI— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) September 23, 2022 However, speaking to Mozzart Sport, the club’s new head coach Johnathan McKinstry has pointed out that their main reason for not taking part in the ongoing event was due to the earlier format of the competition that had been released where teams were supposed to play a game every day which they did not agree with.“We never agreed to play in the tournament after receiving an invitation. Then if they did that, we would have been interested.
