Rainbow FC head coach Eric Macharia has termed his team’s outing at the ongoing Elite Pre-season Cup success as they prepare for their final group match against Kariobangi Sharks on Tuesday.The FKF Division One side have lost their first two group matches and has subsequently been dumped out of the 1 million tournament. They went down 2-0 to Bidco United in the opening game before they got a 4-0 thrashing in the hands of Sofapaka on Friday afternoon. They are rock bottom in the group.Macharia is not too concerned with the result and is focusing on the bigger picture. According to the youthful tactician, playing to flight sides in warm-up matches ahead of the 2022/23 season will do his side a lot of good. He believes that his young side will benefit from the tournament.“So far it has been a good tournament for us but the difference has been in the experience because we have young players, these boys are school kids who are trying to make a name for themselves. There are positives because, for example, we have been playing good football, but our main undoing has been in mistakes which were punished by our opponents. This tournament has also given the boys the confidence, and it has also improved their mentality because they faced top-flight teams and they gave a good account of themselves,” he added.On Tuesday they face Kariobangi Sharks and Macharia says that they are still going to give their best in that game.“Yes we are out of the tournament but we still have an important match to play. It will give us a chance to work on the mistakes that we made in our last game against Sofapaka.
