NATIONS LEAGUE: From 0-2 down to 3-2 up, England failed to win against Germany

For a game which didn’t resolve anything in the group, England and Germany produced a fantastic display with plenty of chances and what’s even better, six goals, three apiece for the finals score 3-3. Nothing would change even if somebody won the game, beause England was already humiliated by relegation from the League A, while the Germans didn’t have a chance to fight for the top spot, but considering the history between two teams, there was no way that this game would be dull and without goals. And it wasn’t.England’s 2022 Nations League campaign:0 wins3 draws3 lossesThey’ll be in League B next year 😬 pic.twitter.com/EmCmWyQ7mp— B/R Football (@brfootball) September 26, 2022 Truth to be told, they needed some time to finally break the deadlock, but when Germany did it first in the 52nd minute, 5 goals followed in the next 35 minutes and both teams came back from behind. After a comfortable 2-0 lead, thanks to two Harry Maguire mistakes, England managed to turn the game over with a dramatic 3-2 lead in the 82nd minute, before the Germans made the final ’punch’ after a Nick Pope error 5 minutes later, and Kai Havertz scored his second goal of the match for the final score. In the end, the home team finished Europa League’s participation without a single win, with three draws and three defeats, but will be sleeping better tonight, as Gareth Southgate’s team finally showed some resilience, passion and aggressiveness, and what’s more important, they came from behind against a big team like Germany. This was their final game before the World Cup and they felt they were better and deserved the victory. The down side of this match (apart from not winning) will be John Stones injury (hamstring) and an error from reserve keeper Nick Pope, which allowed the equalizer, but put his place in the Qatar plane in doubt. The first half was basically a dull affair. Both teams started the game a bit nervous, as their results in the Nations League have not been good, and it seemed that nobody wanted to lose this one, not after results they had in the round before. Germany had an initiative from the start, but England had better chances, two in fact, while the visitors didn’t had a shot on target. Shaw came forward on the counter attack and passed the ball perfectly to Sterling who was basically alone against Ter Stegen but his low finish was saved. Next chance came from Bellingham, but the Borussia Dortmund midfielder sent the ball over the goal. Not using their chances in the first half was looking to bury them in the second half when after two errors by Harry Magure, Germany found themselves two goals up, without doing much at all.Manchester United defender was booed when he came to the field, and soon enough he lost two balls. With the first, he made a challenge which resulted in a penalty, with the second, he allowed the Germans to make a counter attack which ended with Havertz’s perfect volley. All was lost. But then the Germans made a mistake and left Luke Shaw free after one cross and he somehow managed to smuggle the ball into the net. The home team started to look more lively and soon Mason Mount scored a beauty for the equalizer. But when Nico Schlotterbeck made a horrible challenge in the penalty area, Harry Keane brought an unexpected advantage and whole Wembley exploded with you. But, as almost always, the Germans had the last laugh, as Nick Pope failed to catch the ball after a Gnabry shot from 20 meters, and Havertz was there to punish if for the final 3-3.
