Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba says efforts should be put towards having the FIFA suspended lifted with the country out of international football since February.Kenya was suspended in February by FIFA over a decision by the government to disband the federation. In November 2021, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed disbanded the federation and installed a Caretaker committee. After several warnings from the world football governing body and continental body, CAF Kenya was suspended alongside Zimbabwe who had similar issues.Among the demands by FIFA for the suspension to be lifted was the restoration of FKF and reopening of the goal project office in Kasarani. He wants FIFA engaged to resolve the matter and that the suspension period should be used to clean football in the country.“Harambee Stars stand banned by FIFA from international football since 25 Feb 2022. They are missing out on Afcon 2023 qualifiers among other competitions. FIFA should be robustly engaged to resolve the impasse even as this ban period is smartly used to reinvigorate local football,” he tweeted.The Transition Committee’s mandate expires on October 16th and the next Sports CS is expected to give directions on the future of the game.
