All-African Team in European Leagues: Auba opens his Blues account, Partey stars in derby, Zambo continues to shine

GoalkeeperBRICE SAMBA (Congo/Lens)The Congolese goalie had a quiet game when misfiring giants Lyon rolled into Lens, but we’ve picked him nonetheless because of the impressive season he and his teammates are having. After nine matchdays, Les Lensois are fourth in Ligue 1 standings and has been unbeaten since April!DefenceHASSANE KAMARA (Ivory Coast/Watford)The 28-year-old left-back moved from Watford to Udinese during the last transfer window but was loaned back to Watford straight away to help the Hornets’ bid for promotion. The former Nice player delivered an assist and helped keep a clean sheet as Slaven Bilic’s new club enjoyed a thumping 4-0 win away at another former Premier League team, Stoke City.ACHRAF HAKIMI (Morocco/Paris Saint-Germain)Les Parisiens have had a much sterner test against Nice than they expected. But the dynamic right-back kept his calm and avoided any unpleasant surprises late on as PSG claimed the points with a 2-1 win.JORDAN ZEMURA (Zimbabwe/Bournemouth)The 22-year-old English-born defender did well as the Cherries kept goal-happy Brentford at bay and preserved a clean sheet. Unfortunately for the red and blacks, they couldn’t find a goal themselves, so this Premier League match ended in a drab goalless draw.REINILDO MANDAVA (Mozambique/Atletico Madrid)Atleti put a lot of pressure on Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui with their routine 2-0 win at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Reinildo helped Diego Simeone’s team to a clean sheet in Andalusia and is proving more than an able deputy for Brazilian Renan Lodi, who went to Nottingham Forest on loan.MidfieldTHOMAS PARTEY (Ghana/Arsenal)He opened the scoring as the leaders enjoyed an impressive win against north London rivals Tottenham. Partey struck at the Emirates Stadium in the 20th minute with a superb first-time curler into the top corner from 25 yards. Mikel Arteta’s side went on to secure their seventh win from eight league games this season to retain a one-point lead over Manchester City.RAMIZ ZERROUKI (Algeria/Twente)Twente, a Dutch club in serious financial problems, turned the page and can now keep their best players. That applies to midfielder Zerrouki, who was a $5-million target for giants Feyenoord during the last transfer window. He’s one of the best players in Eredivisie and last weekend he helped his team to a fine 3-0 victory over Vitesse.ANDRE-FRANK ZAMBO ANGUISSA (Cameroon/Napoli)He’s unstoppable! The in-from midfielder scored two goals in the space of just six minutes to give his team an early 2-0 lead over Torino and all but secure the points. The guy is an inspiration.AttackADEMOLA LOOKMAN (Nigeria/Atalanta)Nigeria forward Lookman ensured that Atalanta stayed level on points with Serie A leaders Napoli with the only goal in a 1-0 win over Fiorentina. London-born Lookman netted his second goal of the campaign and his first since the opening weekend of the season when he tapped in the winner from Luis Muriel’s low cross.INAKI WILLIAMS (Ghana/Athletic Bilbao)Fresh from making his international debut for Ghana, Williams put up a barnstorming performance to help Bilbao romp to a 4-0 win over Almeria. Williams opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a glancing header from a cross provided by his brother Nico. He had another well-taken goal ruled out for a marginal offside and then set up Nico for the third goal.PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG (Gabon/Chelsea)The Gabon striker scored his first goal for Chelsea following his move from Barcelona as the Blues won at Crystal Palace. Former Arsenal star Aubameyang had gone without a goal in his first two games since returning to England on transfer deadline day. But the 33-year-old ended his wait to get on the scoresheet in the 38th minute at Selhurst Park, spinning to fire home.
