Tusker teenage sensation Collins ‘Ngolo’ Otieno has lauded Tusker Youth head coach Charles Okere alongside Chris Marangi for his steady growth and subsequent promotion to the senior team last month.The short-statured midfielder was the only player promoted from the team’s youth set-up, being unveiled in September alongside six other new recruits ahead of the new Football Kenya Federation Premier League new campaign in line with the club’s policy of sending outstanding players from the junior side to the senior team.Champions Tusker unveil ‘Kante’ among seven new signings ahead of new seasonThe midfielder who is christened as Kante owing to this body frame that resembles that of the Chelsea midfielder earned the promotion hardly a year ad half in the youth team.”I was the only one from the 31 players in the youth team that was promoted to the senior team. I am thankful to coaches Chris Marangi and Charles Okere for the bit they played in my promotion. They were very helpful and I am very thankful to them. they taught me a lot of things,” Otieno said.The midfielder further admitted that he has been drawing inspiration from the midfield duo of Humphrey Mieno and Apollo Otieno, adding that the two have been advising him on how to play to improve his game.Otieno eyes first team duties at TuskerFor Otieno, the promotion to the senior team has been enough motivation to work harder and break into the starting 11, and that has been the sole reason he is putting in the effort to match the premier league levels he sees with his teammates.”Hum and Apollo have been advising me on how they would like to see me play to become a better player. I am motivated to play in the senior team. There has been a development from my side and growth that can be seen across. It has been a great experience and I am trying to catch up in training so that I get to their level. I believe if I continue training well I can make it,” he added.
