Godfrey Okeya could be one of the many faces set to switch allegiances from Muhoroni Youth to Wazito FC but the diminutive midfielder insists he is solely focused on nursing his knee injury for now. Okeya, shipped in from Shabana midway through last season, helped Muhoroni finish fourth in the National Super League with two goals and 11 assists, narrowly missing out on promotion into the top flight. “We really performed well especially in the second leg. We actually never lost a home game in the second leg save for one draw,’’ says the former AFC Leopards youth team skipper. “At the moment, I am nursing a meniscus tear and will be out for at least four weeks. After this I intend to carry on from where I left last season. It was a really great season for us. Effort came from every quarter- the management, technical bench and my teammates. God walked with us all through,’’ he adds.##NAJAVA_MECA_6698112##Having featured in the lower divisions for a while now, the 22-year-old admits that playing in the top flight would be a great addition to his resume. ‘’I was at Kisumu Hot Stars in the Division One then later on with Shabana in the National Super League (NSL). The ultimate goal though, is usually to play at the very top. It is my prayer that I get there soon after I’m healed,’’ continues Okeya. The club, tutored by former Tusker head coach Paul Nkata and former Western Stima team manager Moses Nyalik, amassed 62 points in the NSL and are currently participating in the Annual Peace Cup hosted at the Muhoroni Stadium. How to vote for Olunga in Asia’s Player of the Month gongMuhoroni lost 1-0 to Silibwet in the opener before taking another 4-2 beating at the hands of Wazito.
