Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side, Tusker FC continued with their preparations for the new season by playing a build up match against National Super League (NSL) side, Naivas FC on Wednesday morning at their Ruaraka backyard. The Brewers started their pre-season three months ago hoping to play in the CAF Champions league, something that did not materialize due to Kenya’s suspension by FIFA and they, just like other Premier League teams have been reduced to playing friendly games with the 2022/23 kick off date uncertain. On Wednesday they took on Naivas and downed them 2-0. New signing Eric Mmata and veteran midfielder Jackson Macharia scored the goals for Robert Matano’s side. On Saturday they played Sofapaka at the same venue with the game ending in a one-all draw.We played National Super League side Naivas FC in a friendly match this morning, winning 2-0. If the league begins today, I will have an idea of who is going to be in the starting lineup; I have a clear picture of the team. Those four matches have given me a chance to evaluate every player’s performance in the last four matches. Every player participated and there are those who did well but some are still underperforming. Hopefully, they will improve,” he stated. The 13-time league champion will be going for a third title in a row when the new season commences after back to back titles but they will be wary of the threat posed by the likes of AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia, KCB, Kenya Police FC and Bandari FC who, on paper equally have good squads.Boniface Onyango sets lofty targets after dream move to Tusker
