Inter are struggling at this stage of the season, but their veteran attacker Edin Dzeko scored two goals as the Nerazzurri overcame Sassuolo and claimed a 2-1 win that pushes them to an acceptable five-point deficit below league leaders Napoli. It was a hard-fought win for Simone Inzaghi’s men who completed a great week in which they beat Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League and finally returned to winning in Serie A, putting a mini-crisis behind them. However, they couldn’t have done it without the former Manchester City and Roma star Dzeko. The Bosnian first gave them the lead and scored a late winner after Davide Frattesi had equalized for the Neroverdi. It was a welcome result for the team that saw ultras attend training sessions, demandind more from the boys in black and blue stripes.Much to the delight of the boisterous travelling Inter fans however, Dzeko broke the deadlock in what’s been an even game by tapping home a Hakan Calhanoglu corner-kick just before the break. It was his 100th Serie A stike. And he didn’t wait long before he got his 101st.The Neroverdi came out in the second interval firing, and it only took them 15 minutes to get their reward. A superb move down the left was finished off by Italy international Frattesi, who volleyed home to level. However, Dzeko was determined to hod the headlines and he did great to head in a pinpoint cross from fellow former Roma man Henrikh Mkhitaryan to wrap up a fine week.SERIE A – MATCHDAY 9 SaturdaySassuolo – Inter 1-2 (0-1)/Frattesi 60 – Dzeko 44, 75/19.00: (2.30) Milan (3.25) Juventus (3.50)21.45: (2.14) Bologna (3.50) Sampdoria (3.80)Sunday 13.30: (1.89) Torino (3.50) Empoli (5.00)16.00: (1.99) Monza (3.50) Spezia (4.40)16.00: (2.60) Salernitana (3.30) Verona (3.00)16.00: (2.70) Udinese (3.30) Atalanta (2.85)19.00: (7.75) Cremonese (4.50) Napoli (1.51)21.45: (1.43) Roma (4.50) Lecce (8.50)Monday 21.45: (2.60) Fiorentina (3.30) Lazio (3.00)***odds subject to change
