Inspired Jock angling for fresh start after salary nightmares in Thailand

Three seasons in the Thailand top flight was enough for South Sudan junior international Johnson Jock to down his tools over unpaid salaries. Currently club- hunting, the lanky midfielder who has been training with KPL side Posta Rangers, reflects on his stint abroad. Jock joined Singburi Bangrajun three years ago after a brief spell with Tusker Youth FC. Despite the challenges faced, he intends to bounce back a better player.‘’I could have left Singburi earlier but the club failed to release me. So I bided my time until the contract ended then I came back,’’ the 22 year old says of his former club.‘’They could have helped me move but didn’t. So when I came back to Kenya, I had intentions of signing with Posta Rangers but just at that moment the country was handed a FIFA ban hence my transfer documents couldn’t be processed,’’ he recalls. He however, admits that the Thai league, despite being too technical, favoured his style of play and that’s why he thrived in it. ‘’It’s a great league, not too physical but very technical. If you are as tall as I am and have great technique you can thrive. They do love a good height. Here in Africa we are more physical than technical,’’ continues the man that has turned out for both theSouth Sudan U20 and U23 sides. He intends to go back abroad and try his luck now that his clearance is complete and all visa details settled. Should he move, Jock will do so as a free agent. ‘’I’m training with Posta Rangers just to keep fit because the club assistant coachThe South Sudan 🇸🇸 FA has confirmed the National Football Team will face Kenya 🇰🇪 in a friendly match on 13th Match 2021The team will also play the Tanzanian 🇹🇿 in Kenya 🇰🇪. pic.twitter.com/K9QIHhO61O— Sport Africa (@SportAfricaNews) February 23, 2021 Pascal Ochieng requested that I train with them. As with many other players, a deal outside the country will be welcome,’’ he concludes.Jock, a consistent name at South Sudan’s junior levels intends to make his senior international debut soon having narrowly missed on the 2021 CECAFA U23 where he and Tusker talisman David Majak were both a no show despite being called up.He has played for his country three times.
