How former Arsenal captain took Kenyan chef to the EPL leaders

Kenyan chef, Bernice Kariuki who prepares meals for Arsenal first team on a part-time basis has revealed that it is Chelsea striker Pierre Aubameyang who helped her secure the job with the record FA Cup winners.Kariuki, who hails from Jericho, Nairobi has been with the Gunners for the last few years preparing first-team meals and many do not understand how she landed what many chefs would describe as a dream job in North London.##NAJAVA_MECA_6724260##According to her, an encounter with the former Arsenal captain changed her fortunes for the better. Both were at a party during Christmas where Bernice had prepared a meal. As an aggressive Kenyan, she shot her shot and the rest as they say is history.“There is one time we went to a Christmas party and I met Auba who is now at Chelsea and I requested if he could get me a job at the club and he said I could be his personal chef and that is how I got my job. He was passionate about the food because he liked the Pilau I did,” the 51-year-old told Chams Media.Raila Odinga receives a jersey written Azimio 1 from Arsenal’s chef Bernice Kariuki in London. pic.twitter.com/7hCQorXRvX— Kenyans.co.ke (@Kenyans) March 20, 2022 She went on to lift the lid on how tasking her role can be as they have to work on the demands of each and every player as they do not necessarily take the same meal.“The first team has about 27 chefs. They (players) do not eat the same food because maybe some have gained weight and have to stick to a particular diet but mostly they eat fish, plantain, and healthy rice. We try to accommodate everybody but everybody knows what to eat and we just don’t cook anything, we are told what to cook,” she added.Kariuki’s day starts at 3 AM when she and other chefs prepare breakfast and get fish for the lunch as the first team trains.“My journey starts at 3 in the morning, we begin preparing the fish because you are supposed to prep the fish when the kitchen is cold and then we do their shakes because they run in the morning, they are always there by four. They do their running, have their breakfast, chill, and then do their actual training from 1,” she added.Which Way Kenyan football?
