CAF have today announced the final list of match officials set to do duty at this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League set for Morocco starting next week on October 30 and culminating on November 13.The list contains 29 match officials offering variety from across the continent as they are drawn from 23 countries, with 10 of them being referees, 12 assistant referees, and seven Video Assistant Referees.During the inaugural tournament last year, Kenya’s assistant referee Mary Njoroge was among the 25 officials who were picked for the historic tournament held in Egypt.Tough start for Simba as CAF releases Women’s Champions League fixturesCAF Head of Refereeing and Football Technology, Désiré Noumandiez Doué lauded the quality and experience of the selected officials, noting that it will come in handy in ensuring a successful competition.“Relying on the quality and experience of the referees is essential to ensure a successful competition, especially after the resounding success and excitement during WAFCON 2022. Before each of our major tournaments, potential referees are regularly monitored physically, technically and medically, both at the country and zone level. This has resulted in 230 international women officials evaluated and the best make up the gist of the Women’s Champions League.
