Barcelona have not conceded a goal in their last five home games, winning the last four and Bilbao were unbeaten away in la Liga this season scoring 11 goals in four games. Somebody had to give in this night, and it was the Basques from Bilbao. The fourth goal came in late, in the 73rd minute, when the game was all but over. After the cannonade which left the Basques totally stunned, the guests coached by former Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde managed to get a grip but remained toothless for the rest of the game. Both Williams brothers played from the start but nobody could help a team which had only two shots on target in 90 minutes.
The first goal was quite an unusual one: Lewandowski crossed the ball outside of the penalty area and Dembele scored a goal with his head. Next one on the strange list – Sergi Roberto. The right-back made it 2-0 two with a deflected strike after he was played through by Dembele. And finally, Robert Lewandowski put the game to sleep in the 22nd minute after another Dembele assist. Before or after those goals, Bilbao couldn’t do anything and managed only to concede another one, when Ferran Torres scored after an assist from…Ousmane Dembele.
With this win, Barca got their confidence back after a draw with Inter and a loss from Real, but next week they will face an official elimination from the Champions League.
