Kenya Police’ defensive midfielder Soita Silicho is confident in his team’s on and off the pitch upward trajectory and banks on their quality to exceed fans’ expectations in the upcoming season.Having been part and parcel of the Kenya Police side that competed in the National Super League and subsequently earned promotion prior to last season, Soita is a believer that the stage is set for them achieving bigger things in Kenyan football.Finishing 10th in their debut season, Kenya Police bagged their first hardware in the top tier league, clinching the eight-team Elite Preseason Cup after a 2-0 victory over Nairobi City Stars late September.“Entering my fourth season with Kenya Police, I have been lucky to experience two regimes, one supportive and the other, the current, really living football. The grounds are shifting and I can say with conviction that Kenya Police FC is mature enough to contest for the FKF title in the coming season,” Soita told Mozzart Sport. The Premier League offered them a bigger and better platform to reach out and interact with the public in a casual manner that goes against the service’s stereotype,” Soita mentioned.Noting the growing fan-base the club is attracting, Soita is hopeful that the accommodative and entertaining approach will continue in the future, attracting fans from all regions in the country. With zero starts in the aforementioned Elite Preseason Cup, Soita is aware of the need to pull up his socks in a quest to pip his competitors, new signings Marvin Nabwire and Patillah Omoto.“With the advent of Nabwire and Omoto, the message is clear for us to step up. There is healthy competition among us and this makes me feel like we are going to be unstoppable,” Soita said.“The new signings are impeccable and a joy to watch. They have in all departments brought different dynamics in our expansive style of play and fans should look forward to watching a solid team,” he explained.Being part of the existing names in the team taking part in police training, Soita is slightly concerned about the lack of enough scrimmages with the rest of the squad, but believes that attention to detail will keep them up with the rest till their full return in January. With the league start unknown, Soita is critical about the bleak situation and urges Kenya’s football leadership to get an ‘urgent and long term solution’ as the teams are hungry and ready to play.
