Newly-appointed Kakamega Homeboyz head coach John Baraza has exuded confidence that the western based side have the quality and capability to mount yet another title charge in the upcoming 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign after falling just short last time out.Homeboyz painfully missed the chance to clinch their first ever league title last season as they lost out to Tusker on goal difference after both sides tied on 66 points in the 34 matches played causing heads to roll as the team had given up an over 15 point advantage at the top of the table within the 2021/2022 campaign.Baraza named new Kakamega Homeboyz head coachAfter now taking over from the sacked Bernard Mwalala, Baraza believes the side can once again put up another fight in their historic chase for the title that they hope will end in success during his stint at the club.“I feel happy because getting this opportunity to coach a club that was among the top two in the country last season is like a privilege for me. I have seen the players and I believe they have the quality to go again when the season commences. The task at hand for me is to try and build a nice project that will once again be fighting for the title because we already saw what the team can do last season,” the former Kenyan international told Mozzart Sport. The tactician, who was formerly in the top flight with Sofapaka back in December 2020 before being shown the door owing to a poor start, also expressed his delight at getting back to coaching in the elite league after a stint with Division One side Equity FC and National Super League side Mara Sugar.“I know I have been out of the top flight for a short time but I know the work that lies ahead. All we have to do now is put our best foot forward in training and be ready by the time the season gets underway,” he said.##NAJAVA_MECA_6767341##Baraza will be deputized by Peter Okidi with veteran tactician Edward Manoah taking up the technical director role.
