Bayern demolish Mainz for the first place in Bundesliga after 57 days

The crisis is over, Bayern is winning again (and grinding their opponents in the process), Mane is scoring again and they are back at the top of the table after two months. After Augsburg defeated the Bavarians 1-0 on September 17th, an alarm was raised in Munich, but the team led by Julian Nagelsmann has played 8 games in all competition since and won seven of them with a goal difference 30:6. Today they faced not an easy opponent, considering that Mainz have taken six points from their last three Bundesliga games against Bayern Munich, more than any other side in the same period (apart from Augsburg). But, the Bavarians continued their winning streak in all competition and improved their goal difference ratio by 4, as they crushed the guests 6-2.🔎 | FOCUSDespite the penalty miss, Sadio Mané was Bayern’s main man in a dominant 6:2 win over Mainz:👌 54 touches⚽️ 1 goal🎯 7 shots/3 on target🅰️ 2 assists🎁 3 big chances created🔑 6 key passes⚔️ 6/10 duels won⚖️ 1 penalty won📈 9.1 Sofascore rating#FCBM05 pic.twitter.com/wrOxkSV7HH— Sofascore (@SofascoreINT) October 29, 2022 Mainz are a very difficult opponent who can defeat anybody, Bayern included, but today it was not that day. The first half was as exciting as it gets, as we saw four goals and plenty of chances. Bayern players came out as a fury and took the lead after only 5 minutes. Choupo-Moting passed the ball to Mane, who assisted Gnabry for the first goal. Choupo-Moting was the assistant for the second goal, which was scored by Jamal Musiala, before the guests committed the penalty. Sadio Mane stepped up, but keeper Zentner saved it, only to see the ball coming back to Senegalese, who scored from the second attempt. The guests had their attempt minutes later with a penalty of their own, but Burkardt’s bad attempt was easily saved by Ulreich.GOAL! Goretzka started with his header in the 58th minute, before Mathys Tel, Lewandowski’s successor continued to fill Mainz’s net with a fifth goal. Ulreich’s poor pass led to the consolation goal for the visitors, before Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored his goal for the day and for the final score. The Cameroonian, for years just a Lewa sub is playing like a newly born striker. In the shadow of the World Cup, Bayern’s striker is playing like a proper number 9 and today’s he scored in five consecutive games for the first time in his entire career.GOAL!
