Jon DeChambeau, the father of Bryson DeChambeau, died Friday.
In a post on his Instagram account Saturday morning, Bryson said goodbye to his father: “I’m sad to see you go but you’ve been through way too much pain in this life. I’m so happy you are at peace. Now you get to be with me and watch me at every event I play.”
Jon’s death was confirmed in a text message sent by Bryson’s agent to Golfweek. Jon had been through numerous health battles during his life. Both his kidneys failed in 2014 as a result of a lengthy battle with diabetes, and he needed a transplant in 2017 when he was 57.
Bryson finished up his first season with the LIV Golf Series last week in Miami. His team, Crushers, was eliminated in the semifinals.
