‘My first year at Arsenal was nice, I’m better prepared now’

One of the biggest surprises in the Premier League recently has been Unai Emery’s appointment at Aston Villa. The Villains somehow managed to persuade the Spanish tactician to take over a relegation-threatened club in the middle of the season, but in a recent interview, the former Arsenal boss revealed his reasons. It’s obvious that Emery wants another shot in the strongest European league and he claims he learned from his mistakes at the Emirates. 🗣️| Unai Emery: “I think my first year at Arsenal was nice. It was broken by some things that I have identified that I am now going to try to avoid.” [@MailOnline]— Arsenal Buzz (@ArsenalBuzzCom) November 8, 2022 The former Arsenal coach vowed to use the experience he had with the Gunners. “I already have a year and four months of experience in this League. I think my first year at Arsenal was nice. It was broken by some things that I have identified that I am now going to try to avoid. I have always had an internal objective of having a new opportunity and coming back better prepared and I think that at Villarreal I have acquired a continuity that has made them call me back from England. It’s more of a challenge than a rematch. I had to accept it as something very professional”Arsenal want to breakaway from the fourth-place label, aim higher and challenge the title holdersThis is the second club which called him and the situation was almost the same as a year ago. Newcastle United wanted a new coach, they had the money, but were in the relegation zone, just like Aston Villa recently. But, he was with Villarreal in the Champions League then, and he was happy that he got the opportunity to work in the club. Now, a year later, things have changed.“I have always been clear about the approach I was taking. When the objectives are achieved, I evolve. I need to feel that there is a professional challenge. I was very happy at Villarreal by fulfilling professional objectives. There have been successes but leaving is something professional where I enjoy the challenge I have going forward with whoever knocks at my door I always listen to whoever knocks at my door and then I listen or not. Villa is bringing me back to the Premier League, challenging me to take steps in such a competitive league.I can build a team to go back to Europe” explained Emery.Arteta: ‘It helped that I wasn’t the first manager after Wenger’The Spaniard is keen on building something special in Birmingham and is pleased that he has the full support of both owners. “Villa makes me return to the Premier League, challenges me to take steps in such a competitive league. I can build a team to go back to Europe. Everyone has their story. Aston Villa have already won a Champions League. We must equip ourselves with capacity. Chelsea, Arsenal did it… The two owners have the illusion of taking a step forward. We have joined our paths for this” said Emery. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6798262##
