The FKF Caretaker Committee was mandated to run the league in accordance with the FKF rules and regulations, but there were several violations that even the Sports Dispute Tribunal, SDT pointed out, so it was not possible to uphold the league.” he said, Nonetheless, some NEC members felt that they were only being used to rubber-stamp a decision that was already taken and in the public domain. “It was such a stormy meeting. The NEC members want to be involved in decision making at the federation. They want to be consulted at all levels and not just to ratify decisions that have already been taken elsewhere.”The move by the NEC means that there will be no relegation or promotion of clubs, and that the championship that Tusker FC won is scrapped.Aussems wants league to start in a fortnightThe 2021-22 FKFPL season was taken over midway by the FKF Caretaker Committee after the NEC was disbanded by the former Cabinet Secretary for Sports Ambassador Amina Mohammed. This takeover led to FIFA, the world’s football governing body, suspending Kenya indefinitely from all football activities. The suspension still stands but is expected to be lifted soon after the government complied with demands to reinstate the disbanded office.Additional reporting by Bonface Osano
